Hello, I'm Pastor Scott A. Leslie...

Pastor Scott A. Leslie

Reverend Scott Leslie became the Stated Supply Pastor for our congregation on August 1, 2007. From February through July of 2007, Scott served as a temporary pulpit supply pastor.

In addition to serving as our part-time pastor, Scott also teaches Math at Blue Ridge High School. He married Mary Marbury in 1984, and they have two daughters, Sarah and Abbie. Sarah is a graduate student at the University of California, Berkeley, and Abbie is a student at The University of Texas at Dallas. Mary is a Registered Nurse, who does home health IV therapy visits.
They live in Allen.

Prior to serving as our pastor, Scott had served in full-time ministry as Pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Allen (2001-2006), Okeechobee Presbyterian Church in Okeechobee, Florida (1993-2001), as Associate Pastor at the Knox United Presbyterian Church in Overland Park, Kansas (1990-1993)
and as Pastor of the Fellowship Church (a Methodist-Presbyterian Union congregation) in Ararat, Virginia (1982-1985). Scott and Mary served as Mission Co-Workers with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the United Methodist Church to Kinshasa, Zaire (now Democratic Republic of the Congo) from 1985 to 1989, serving at the Methodist-Presbyterian Hostel as hostel parents for missionary children and directors of the Guest House. Prior to
his ordination, Scott also served as a Volunteer-in-Mission to Korea, teaching English as a Second Language at Speer Girls High School and Honam Theological Seminary in Kwangju, Korea, in 1980-1981.

Originally from Texas, Scott lived in numerous locations as a child while his father worked as a contractor with the space program. Born in Dallas, he has lived in Denver, Colorado; Richardson, Texas; Seattle, Washington; Huntsville, Alabama; Slidell, Louisiana; and Houston, Texas. A graduate of Clear Lake High School, he attended Texas A&M University where he studied
Biomedical Engineering and Psychology, graduating in 1978. He then attended Union Theological Seminary in Virginia in Richmond, earning a Doctor of Ministry degree there in 1982. Scott has pursued graduate studies at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary where he earned a Certificate in Church Growth and Evangelism in 1996. An avid reader of suspense and
science fiction, Scott also enjoys the outdoors, working with youth and playing guitar.

Scott brings gifts in Worship Leadership, Preaching and Teaching ministries. Texts of his sermons can be found on the church's website's Pastor's Notes page. He also leads our adult Sunday School class and our First Wednesday's Adult Bible Study.
