Reverend Scott Leslie
became the Stated Supply Pastor for
our congregation on August 1, 2007.
From February through July of 2007,
Scott served as a temporary pulpit
supply pastor.
In addition to
serving as our part-time pastor,
Scott also teaches Math at Blue
Ridge High School. He married Mary
Marbury in 1984, and they have two
daughters, Sarah and Abbie. Sarah is
a graduate student at the University
of California, Berkeley, and Abbie
is a student at The University of
Texas at Dallas. Mary is a
Registered Nurse, who does home
health IV therapy visits.
They live in Allen.
Prior to serving as our pastor,
Scott had served in full-time
ministry as Pastor at the First
Presbyterian Church of Allen
(2001-2006), Okeechobee Presbyterian
Church in Okeechobee, Florida
(1993-2001), as Associate Pastor at
the Knox United Presbyterian Church
in Overland Park, Kansas (1990-1993)
and as Pastor of the
Fellowship Church (a
Methodist-Presbyterian Union
congregation) in Ararat, Virginia
(1982-1985). Scott and Mary served
as Mission Co-Workers with the
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the
United Methodist Church to Kinshasa,
Zaire (now Democratic Republic of
the Congo) from 1985 to 1989,
serving at the
Methodist-Presbyterian Hostel as
hostel parents for missionary
children and directors of the Guest
House. Prior to
his ordination, Scott
also served as a
Volunteer-in-Mission to Korea,
teaching English as a Second
Language at Speer Girls High School
and Honam Theological Seminary in
Kwangju, Korea, in 1980-1981.
Originally from Texas, Scott lived
in numerous locations as a child
while his father worked as a
contractor with the space program.
Born in Dallas, he has lived in
Denver, Colorado; Richardson, Texas;
Seattle, Washington; Huntsville,
Alabama; Slidell, Louisiana; and
Houston, Texas. A graduate of Clear
Lake High School, he attended Texas
A&M University where he studied
Biomedical
Engineering and Psychology,
graduating in 1978. He then attended
Union Theological Seminary in
Virginia in Richmond, earning a
Doctor of Ministry degree there in
1982. Scott has pursued graduate
studies at Louisville Presbyterian
Theological Seminary where he earned
a Certificate in Church Growth and
Evangelism in 1996. An avid reader
of suspense and
science fiction,
Scott also enjoys the outdoors,
working with youth and playing
guitar.
