The Four Corners Outreach Alliance (FCOA) is a new faith-based alliance of 8 local churches which have worked together in order to open a Food Pantry for those individuals and families in the Four Corners area of Grayson, Fannin, Collin and Hunt Counties in North Texas.

Our mission is to provide free food and other services for families, children, and the elderly that are in crisis.

The Four Corners Outreach Alliance Food Pantry (hereafter known as 'the food pantry') is located on HWY 160 just North of HWY 121, in the former Fellowship Hall of the Crossroads Presbyterian Church located there.

What made us aware of the need for a food pantry? In a survey done of 11 school districts in the surrounding areas, the data showed that all of those schools had between 40% to over 60% of their students getting assistance with their school meals.

The very first day that the Food Pantry was open to the general public was on September 10, 2012, after a Dedication Service on September 9th.

On each Monday of the month from 9:00am to 11:00am and also on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 10:00am to Noon, we welcome those individuals and families in need. Clients may come to the Food Pantry once each month.

When a prospective client enters, an application is filled out with proof of residence, and/or a State Issued Photo I.D. (and a copy of a birth certificate or school record for each child). Other information is also requested, a Social Security Number is not needed or required. This information is then tracked and statistics gleaned for further areas of need.

Instead of giving out "a bag of food", we offer more of a grocery store-like atmosphere, including a client's use of a shopping cart, to allow the client to shop using their cart to make things easier.

Their food is then weighed, as each person in the family may receive up to 15 pounds of food. For a family of four, the total amount allowed each month would be 60 pounds. Foods that are not included in the 15 pound weight limitation are refrigerated items such as meats, eggs, cheese, as well as bread and produce.

At this time, we are operating entirely with food and monetary donations to the Food Pantry. We are starting to receive some decent sized food donations. With additional money that we have received, we have shopped and been able to stock our shelves. We do have our Tax Free Number from the Texas Secretary of State are we are a recognized entity in "Good Standing".

Our application for a "Non-Profit Corporation" status has been filed and we have met all of the necessary criteria for that status. We hope to be part of the North Texas Food Bank but we must be in operation for at least six months. With our Sam's Wholesale Club 'Tax Free' business card we do frequent both Sam's Wholesale Club and Walmart stores.

The Four Corners Outreach Alliance now consists of 8 different country churches (across different denominational lines) with one delegate to The Board from each church, regardless of that church's size, this helps keep everything fair for all that are involved. Our Bylaws do offer Affiliate Membership to any non-church persons and/or companies.
